Pursuing Dreams in Her 40s
Maricar’s success changed from standing in the limelight to something more personal, but she also changed the way she worked toward her goals, she opened up, “I feel like mas-targeted yung galaw ko ngayon. I’m learning how to do more of what I am naturally good at, and doing less of what I am weak at. Mas kaya ko nang humingi ng tulong, hehe. Dati kasi feeling ko I have to be good at everything… even though there is a lot to do, feeling ko parang mas chill ang buhay ko.”
This shift included asking for help from a higher power too, as Maricar discovered that, “Slowly I am shifting from getting my value from myself to getting my value from The One who created me. Sa Kanya naman kasi ang totoong value ko.”
Maricar adds, “There is a big and beautiful reason why you were created, and I hope every woman will do their best to find out what that is and live according to her purpose.”
“Every year I hope to get better, be more real and more wise,” she shares. “Honestly, excited nga ako IN A WAY na mag-50! What will I have learned by then???”
The Importance of Health and Skincare
Maricar may be entering her mid-40s, but she definitely does not look it, because her journey has always included overall health and beauty. “The older I get, mas nagfo-focus ako sa overall health more than yung mga pahid-pahid skincare… If you are in good health, it usually comes out in our skin, lalo na as we age.”
She also gets help from Myra Ultimate, an anti-aging supplement which has Astaxanthin, Vitamin E and Lycopene. Astaxanthin has 6000x more antioxidant power than Vitamin C which helps make your skin look youthful and radiant with regular use. Combined with Vitamin E and Lycopene, they help reduce signs of aging, make skin elastic and look more rejuvenated with regular use and proper diet and exercise. Maricar shares that, “antioxidant supplements will give extra help to clear out the toxins and repair the damage inside. So para siyang skincare from the inside out.”
Maricar is realistic about health. “As much as gusto mong kunin lahat ng essential nutrients the natural way, from real unprocessed food, hindi din siya laging feasible,” she shares. “Yun naman talaga ang function ng supplements. We do our best to eat well, to be healthy, tapos nandyan ang mga supplements to HELP us get the nutrients na kulang sa diet.” She quips, “Pero siyempre wag abuso, haha! Just because I’m taking supplements doesn’t mean puwede na ako mag junk food araw araw.”
When asked what advice would she give to women entering their 40s who might feel it’s too late to chase their dreams, Maricar shares: Dreams are good, pero mas powerful pala kapag may purpose. I can dream of having a mansion in Forbes Park and 100 million pesos, pero pag na-achieve ko na yun, what’s next? There’s always something next, kasi human beings are never satisfied. It’s never too late to find your purpose. Your purpose can be as large-scale as Mother Theresa moving to India to work with the poor, or simple but powerful like a mom raising her kids to be strong, kind, independent, and valuable to society.” She ends, ”Find your purpose. From there, all the right dreams will follow.”
